Display settings for monitors - multi-display, extend or duplicate display settings for laptop or desktop computing

Set up dual monitors on Windows 10


To connect your PC to additional monitors:

  • Make sure your cables are connected properly to the new monitors. Your PC should automatically detect them and show your desktop.
  • Make sure the monitors are powered on.  The power button should illuminate if powered on. 
  • Right-click anywhere on the desktop on any screen and choose Display settings. Scroll down to Multiple Displays, click the drop-down menu and choose a display setting.
  • Select "Duplicate Display" options to show the SAME SCREEN on multiple screens. Duplicate Display is useful for classroom application, meetings or conferences. 

Select "Extend these Displays" to extend your work surface or display to another monitor and extend work surface, allowing separate views on each monitor or screen.Extended desktop is useful for office applications.  Note: once you open Display Settings, you will see monitors 1 and 2 (or 3) when monitors are connected ...make sure they are connected first.  Next, select the monitor they want to extend the display to, before they change the setting and order for displaying monitors. 


Once you select your display preference it will ask you to Keep Changes or Revert to previous settings.
